The Community Remembrance Project and other groups in Harris County are continuing to engage citizens with a variety of events that promote unity, acknowledge injustices by past generations, and honor our diversity. Listed here are our ongoing efforts.

On Saturday June 13, The Hamilton Juneteenth Committee, The Community Remembrance Project, One Harris County and other sponsoring organizations will produce a Juneteenth Celebration in Hamilton Georgia at the Community Center. There were performances, awards, cultural displays, an African America quilt program, music and free food at the event. The las t three years of this event have been wonderful. You should attend if you have a chance.

On January 22, The Community Remembrance Project conducted a candlelight vigil on the square in Hamilton Georgia. The purpose of this event was to commemorate the unjust lynching of four innocent people in 1912. The vigil included reading of the victims names and prayers for their souls. It was also stated that we hope that the Hamilton City Council will complete the park honoring all of the ten lynching victims in Harris County

On January 19, 2026, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. the Harris County Men's Club conducted the annual parade in downtown Hamilton Georgia. The Community Remembrance Project group participated this year in the parade with an antique car with a banner and with the distribution of free EJI calendars and books about racial discrimination in the South. The event is free and everyone is invited to attend. Look below to see the flyer covering this event.
